Pescadero Run
Today was the first ride of the 110th Riding Season and the annual Pescadero Run. Overall, I'll say it was a success.
Prospects met me at the clubhouse at 830 sharp with doughnuts, fixed coffee and helped me clean up the house.
Folks began to dribble in just before 9am, at 0930 the roughly 50 riders (including Poppa AND Slim!!) set out from the clubhouse heading south. The group at this point was made up of nearly two dozen SFMC members, a handful of Oakland MC, 15 local HOG Chapter members and loads of guests.
We made a very short stop into Alice's to collect the dozen or so San Jose Dons and then rode our way out to the Lighthouse at Pigeon Point for a photo-op (entering the Lighthouse Parking Lot - http://youtu.be/GrkXhWUkE0c). Quickly snapping a hundred of the same shot on 5 cameras, we loaded up and covered the short distance to Pescadero to escape the foggy breeze on the shore.
Amazingly, those who wished to dine at Duarte's walked in, sat down and ate. The thrones of others grabbed something up the street and sat around the picnic tables swapping tall tales.
Fooding completed, most everyone headed in their own direction - with the largest group of members riding in the direction of Clay's house. As they always are, the Murphys are a top notch host. Wide assortment of beverages to satisfy any taste and hot fresh-out-of-the-oven pound cake and brownies. So good, I'll admit to you family - that I had a third slice. Clay, thanks again for the hospitality and was awesome to see you as mobile as you are after your surgery.
Filled and hydrated, the remaining group had a quick (thanks Santa) jaunt back to SF.
Huge thanks to Kalle for all his help with leading and pre-riding. I heard several folks say they have been riding up and down this coast for years and yet saw new roads today. From full "dressers" to street bikes to dirtbikes with knobbies - nearly everyone had a great day.
See ya round the BBQ pit at the San Jose Dons Spring Run next Sunday.
